First, demand that the doctors abide by their Hippocratic oath (first, do no harm). Depakote and lithium are almost worse than the disease. I KNOW! The mood swings can be next to impossible to prevent. For myself, I prefer to control the worst with sedatives as needed. The mood swings are part of who I am. For me, lack of sleep is a definite tell so that I can use some lorazepam to sleep off the worst of the mood swing. Well, I was laughing throughout the whole thing. I think it was slightly too dramatic to take seriously. Like being in status epilepticus for some unknown time in front of her daughter, that cant be controlled until examined at the er and given multiple drugs...and she lived to vent her urine and feces another day. So, they tried lorazepam, phenobarbitol, and valproate, but had to give up, intubate her and then give her propofol, the anesthetic that killed Michael Jackson, ketamine, and lidocaine in order to stop her hysteria.
