I do wish he had edited down a little bit. Two pages of back story was a bit much. lot of it, like being autoimmune, goes no where. The pay off was interesting. Although not what I come here for. But in the end, I think the author had some things to work through. I hope this helped

Courtship had more red flags pop up than in the annual running of the bulls, yet our put-upon protagonist can't hear the sound of the Mack truck bearing down on him, at full ramming speed.
Goodness, do all such folks have to be possessed of IQs lower than their age? How does this guy manage to dress himself?
Given all that family and friends dished out on him, I'm surprised that: (a) he hadn't been institutionalized; and (b) his revenge was so weak...poison ivy/oak for most folks, a few days of prednisone will handle that.

As if disabled adult I really enjoyed this story! I haven't even dated since i was injured 20 plus years ago and while that's not just bc of my injury and scars and pain it is mostly bc of it. I think it would be hard to find someone to accept it. Things have gotten worse with an RA or autoimmune diag like zach and the fear for the future was relateable to me. I loved both stories and was glad brielle ended up happy too.

If this story-text may help to get females under or in a kind of flush or/and intoxication, than the text lenght may be longer (I think). I'm a male but with a genetic disorder (since birth, ) and I have an extra X-chromosoom. As a male I feel myself more female from the feelings, than a male. Can't remember how I found this story, but I've been enjoying it. Took me the better part of ten-plus chapters to figure out why. Not sure if you've ever read Robert Heinlein's novels (not the ones at the very end of his life, but the ones from earlier) but your writing style and how you handle things really strikes a familiar chord.
Sad to hear of your latest problems and can certainly sympathize with your situatin (family members having cancer, plus I have had a major round of dermatomyositis -- autoimmune disease where muscle tissue is regarded as a foreign body and is attacked in a positive feedback loop).
Certainly waiting for your next update, but do it at your own schedule.

Wow I was sick with an undiagnosed autoimmune disease for years before got proper diagnosis and treatment (Stiff Person Syndrome, the same thing Celine Dion has). The pain was enormous and made me irascible, depressed, and looking at a life long death sentence of pain. My wife coukd have easily stepped out during that time to get her needs met, despite taking care of two young children and myself. Fortunately I got treatment and turned around. Thr whole arc was like 19 years, but 4 years at its worst. She never cheated and was pissed later when I told her I would have understood if she had met someone else and had a discreet affair or even left me taking the kids with her. She didn't and I have tried each day since to repay the fidelity and love many times over. She truly is a blessing in my life. Meanwhile here the bitch wife can't even wait how many months? Whatever. Disappointing. If years, I can start to understand. But anything less is balderdash.
